The other week, I had a friend staying with me. And it was around 11:15 when I realized: I have nothing to make for lunch. I was fresh out of bread, the drawer was in a sad state and some eggs were left in their case.
But I had a trick up my sleeve: our new one Fresh Airy Focaccia Mix Kit. Thanks to this concoction, by 12:30 we had fresh, fluffy focaccia on the table, split and topped with a fried egg and some creative seasonings to make delicious, breakfast-worthy sandwiches.
Fresh bread ready in an hour sounds like a magic trick, or maybe even a trick. But with our latest line of bread mix kits, it's possible. Choose between crispy focaccia, chewy pretzel bites, fluffy breadOR garlic bread with cheese — all of which go from box to table in just about 60 minutes.
With these mixes, our Research and Development (R&D) team set out to create flavorful, impressive breads that could be made in a short period of time. To speed things up, they came up with some clever strategies to maximize flavor and minimize time and effort.
For example, they included sugar and yeast extract in the mix to feed the yeast and help with flavor and browning; moreover, the yeast extract also encourages the relaxation of the dough (which usually takes extended time to achieve). In addition, the mixes require water that is hotter than what you typically use in bread, which shortens the time the dough needs to rise. And to make sure the bread is still delicious with limited fermentation time, they included herbs, spices, glazes and more additions to make each bread crave-worthy.
In general, the techniques are simple and straightforward; None of the mixes require a mixer, and some mixes, like focaccia, don't even require stirring. (Just mix the ingredients until combined!) As R&D Specialist Jonathan Brasil, who helped develop these mixes, explains, “These are perfect for people who are 'yeast shy' or first-time bakers. seen. They are designed to be as simple and easy as possible.” And even if you're a seasoned baker who makes bread every week, they still deserve a place in your pantry—how else can you get fresh, homemade bread on the table on a weeknight? And if you want to think outside the box, Jonathan and the R&D team dreamed up unique recipes to do with any kit.
So which mixing kit is best for you? Here's the full line-up:
Soft and chewy mix of pretzel bites: This mix yields dozens of savory, salty bites that have the distinct chew and flavor of a street vendor pretzel, without the need for a traditional dip (or even a baking soda bath). Dip them in mustard, queso, pimento cheese, cinnamon butter or a sweet cream cheese. The mix includes a packet of accompanying glaze (for the plain malt exterior), packet of coarse salt and packet of yeast; all you need to add is water and oil.

Fresh and Airy Focaccia Mix: Focaccia is a simple bread to make from scratch, and this mix streamlines that process even further. All you have to do is mix the batter, pour it into a baking pan, then dig it in and bake it. Generous olive oil provides a crisp top and bottom, and a garnish of sea salt and rosemary (included with the mix) adds extra flavor.

The perfect soft flatbread mix: Make a batch of these flatbreads and you're halfway to dinner. You can use them to pick up delicious meals or serve as an accompaniment to soups or salads. The shaping process is simple: After you divide the dough into balls and let it rise, you then pat the dough balls into flat circles and cook them in a preheated pan for a few minutes. Dust with the Za'atar herb mix that comes with the mix for a cool, herbaceous twist.
Use it to:
Garlic Bread Mix: This final mix may be the biggest star of the bunch. Makes irresistible rolls with butter and garlic that bake together in a cake pan. Because their sides are touching, they bake extremely soft and to enjoy them, you have to remove every bite of cheese. This mix is the best way to spice up any dinner party or steal the show at a cocktail party—all you need is water, butter, mozzarella, cheddar or Gouda cheese, and an hour of your time.
