We think the hummingbird cake is so underrated! Like the carrot cake, this less known cake is made with powdered pineapple and a banana puree instead of spicy and carrots with cinnamon and alpace – it is like a tropical version of the carrot cake! This cake is really the best treatment for them that wants a very moist cake with a fine sweet that is not very rich or decaying.
The notes of the element


- All objective flour: For the best results, stuck with the most privileged flour. We do not suggest using cake flour because it makes this cake shrink.
- Baking soda and powder: Need both of you. Check the expiry date to avoid flat cakes.
- Vegetable oil: Canola oil or olive oil is a good alternative. Stuck with a neutral-tasting oil.
- Pineapple Pineapple: Adds excess moisture and taste to the cake. Light drain before adding your bowl.
- Banana Purry:
- Cream cheese: This works best for soft and full fat for creamy frosting.
- Vanilla Extraction: Enhances the taste. A pure vanilla extract is suggested for the best taste, but artificial vanilla can be used in a pinch.
- Powdered sugar: Add it to half a cup at once. More powdered sugar is made for more frequent frosting. It is a matter of personal choice how thicker you do it.
Frosting option
Hummingbird cakes pair well with various frosting, though we like the dense and cream texture of cream cheese frosting. If you are not a fan there are a few delicious options here:
Butter cream frosting:: Buttercream frosting is ideal for those who like silk smooth and sweet alternatives. It is versatile enough to be flavored or colored and provides a classic, elegant finish for cakes.
Ermine frosting:: Also known as sidal milk frosting, Ermine Frosting provides a light alternative with a flopphy texture and a delicate sweet.
Customize your cake
Mix-in adding this cake to your cake is a great way to customize them to make it yourself. If you are a fan of chocolate chips, nuts or dried fruits, how to include these appealing excess here:
Dry fruit: If you are fond of dry fruit we recommend a 1/2 cup of raisins or dry cherries. They provide a sweet and a chewy texture that enhances the overall experience.
Chocolate Chips: For a sweet bend, shake in 1/2 cup of semi-sweet or milk chocolate chip. They are amazingly associated with the spice, adding a melter, chocolate righteousness.
Nuts: This recipe already contains 1 cup of toasted pecans (believe me, you want tosts them) but if you like them, you can (or simply add) sub (or simply add) some walnuts. Traditional for Pacons Hummingbird Cake, but you can play perfectly with this recipe and use your favorite nut.


Right pan
The key is to select the right pan to ensure that your cake has turned perfect. For this sheet cake, we use a jelly roll pan or half -sheet of the unemployed, which measures 13 × 18 inches with a rimed edge. Using a small or deep pan can change the cake-to-frosting ratio, affecting both taste and texture.
Prepare the pan
