Salsa Verde is a traditional style of Mexican salsa. Tomatillos, jalapeños, serranos, cilantro, and even avocados are its most common ingredients. Garlic and onion are added for more flavor and aroma. Spices like cumin, herb oregano or chili powder can also be used. The mixture can be processed until smooth, but can be left chunky for more texture. Salsa is usually served with corn chips or tacos.

- Roast them. Place the tomatillos on a baking sheet. Roast them at 400F for 15 minutes or until lightly charred. Add them to the recipe as usual for a smoky flavor.
- Prepare ahead. Make salsa without avocado. Pour it into an ice cube tray and refrigerate for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight and add the avocado before serving.
- Make it productive. Add 1/4-1/2 cup chopped mango or pineapple for some natural sweetness and a tropical vibe.
