Material notes
- Water + Sugar: Equal parts water and sugar form one Simple syrup. It's the same ratio every time. If you want to reduce the amount of sugar in your lemonade, use less simple syrup when mixing with lemon juice.
- Lemon juice: Another way to add even more flavor is to use Meyer lemons. Meyer lemons are my absolute favorite. They are much sweeter than regular lemons.
- Blueberries: You can use fresh or frozen blueberries.
Save for later
We like to make a huge batch because it freezes so well and then we can use it throughout the summer. Simply pour the concentrate into a gallon freezer bag and place flat in the freezer until solid. You can measure it in advance and mark it on the bag so you know how many months it is there. We like to freeze it in different sizes so we can have small sips on the porch and big feeds in thirsty-crowd size.
Melt the lemon juice by running the frozen bag under warm water until you can break it into small pieces with your hands. Then put the ice concentrate in a pitcher and add water as you like. This extra water should be enough to melt the rest. Shake and serve.
