The first time we heard about Grilled Lemonade we were immediately intrigued to try it. We immediately fell in love with the depth of flavor. Don't be fooled, it doesn't taste like burnt lemon at all. Grilling citrus fruit brings out the natural flavor, and adding a bit of sugar before you put it over the fire means you'll also get a hint of caramelization in the final results. It boasts a slightly less tart and much fuller lemon flavor than the classic variety. In other words, it's a must try!

Material notes
- Lemon: Start by cutting your lemons in half. Then dip the cut side in a little sugar.
- Water: How much water and ice to add is up to you! If you prefer a stronger citrus flavor, use less water.
- Sugar: Dipping lemons in sugar creates that deep, rich caramelization we're looking for. Sugar is best for sticking to lemons. Other sweeteners, such as honey, will simply drip from the lemon. You don't have to add sugar to the lemon, but I recommend it.
Broiler option
If you don't have access to a gas or charcoal grill, you can also use your oven's broiler. Every oven works a little differently, whether the broiler is in the main oven or the bottom drawer. Either way, the broiler setting is top-down heat. You can think of it as a sort of upside-down grill. If you are working with a broiler, follow the same steps as in the recipe, but place the cut side up instead of down.
Other Ways to Use Roasted Lemon
When you remove your roasted lemons from the heat, let them cool for 5-10 minutes. Now you can juice them for fried lemon juice! You have to take a few more steps to turn it into something drinkable, but you can use the smoky and burnt juice for other things too! Consider adding it to a marinade or even baked goods for a unique citrus flavor.

You can store the grilled lemon concentrate in a freezer-safe bag. Place it in your refrigerator, where it will keep for 3-4 months. When you're ready to drink it, let it thaw overnight and then add water to your flavor preferences.
