A BEAUTY guru has revealed the DIY three-ingredient mask she uses to heal her damaged hair.
She said her tresses looked like a rat’s nest due to the knots and dryness as she made the haircare treatment.
Lauren Kissee (@laurenkissee) has garnered over 71,000 followers on TikTok, where she gives a glimpse into her life.
She spoke candidly about needing to rejuvenate her hair with a homemade treatment.
“If you have a rat’s nest on top of your head like I do and haven’t washed your hair in about eight days, let’s do a hair mask together,” she said.
“I do hair masks when I feel like my hair is a little dry or just been extra knotty or on days like today that I’m lazy and I wanna workout later,
“My hair is disgusting.
“I want it to look somewhat decent for the day but I don’t want to wash it.
“All you’ll need for this is some olive oil, some coconut oil, and then of course some castor oil.”
Lauren held up a glass containing a few tablespoons of coconut oil that she had already warmed up.

She then added an equal amount of olive oil by using her eyes to guess how much to pour in.
“I’m really not a measurement girly,” she said.
“Okay, so this is about a little less than a fourth cup and I’m gonna put the same amount, so equal parts coconut oil and olive oil.
“I got this tip from my hairdresser, who said that olive oil and coconut oil both have good properties in them so it’s good to mix both.
“Then you’re gonna add some of your castor oil.”
The beauty enthusiast said only a small amount of castor oil needed to be used as she added in three drops.
She mixed the oils in the glass before using her hands to apply it to her scalp and then massaged it through the rest of her hair.
“There’s nothing glamorous about this,” she said.
“You want to saturate your hair starting at the root.
“I’m going to pour it up here and then massage it in.”
Lauren washed her hands before brushing the oil through her hair from root to tip.
She then styled her hair into a slicked-back ponytail and began to braid it.
“A lot of these oils have properties that are amazing for your hair,” she said.
“That’s why I like to mix all of them.
“The castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, which is just incredible for stimulation and that’s why castor oil is so good for hair growth.
“The olive oil and coconut oil are amazing as well.
“I probably do this about twice a month and it has made my hair so soft.
“I’m gonna let my hair sit like this all day long. I’m gonna go work out later and then shower.
“I do two really good shampoos to make sure I’m getting all the oil out of my hair.
“The slick back look is really in right now so no one will even know that you have a healing hair mask on your hair while you go about your day.
“If you try this, I swear it will give you the best hair of your life.”
Hundreds of viewers liked the video and many people took to the comment section saying they were eager to make the mask for themselves.
“I immediately went to make this and put it in my hair with the sleek back pony too,” one person said.
“Thanks for this, buying castor oil as we speak,” another commented.
“Your hair is so long and gorgeous,” a third added.
Castor oil is thought to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and moisturizing properties.

As a source of ricinoleic acid and several other fatty acids, it can be particularly useful for skincare.
However, an article published by MedicalNewsToday states there are only anecdotal reports of castor oil promoting hair growth.
