Material notes
- no dust: A combination of salt, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder and pepper. Use it Regular chip-based nachos too!
- French fries: Use frozen french fries and bake or revive leftover fries. Our favorite choice is the Ora Ida Extra Crispy Fast Food Fries. Any variation will work.
- roast meat: Choose our tried-and-true carne asada recipe for the best flavor, or simplify the process with pre-cooked carne asada from a trusted local carniceria. Just make sure it's sliced against the grain and then sliced for easy eating.
- Shredded cheese: You can use shredded cheddar, Colby Jack, Monterey Jack, or even mozzarella. Quesadilla cheese is awesome.
- toppings: The classic combo is sour cream, guacamole, fresh salsa (like pico de gallo), cilantro, jalapenos, and red onion.
Reviving leftover roast
Got leftover french fries from fast food or restaurants? You can reheat them whole and they'll work great for carne asada fries.
Spread your fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Toss with our nacho dust, and then very lightly spray the fries with nonstick cooking spray. This will help them back up crisp. Bake at 425 degrees for about 5 to 7 minutes until warm and crispy.
