Right around the spring equinox, I start taking inventory of what's in my medicine cabinet, what needs to be used in the coming months, and what needs to be replaced now. This moment is great, because as winter winds down and the nutritious fresh berries of summer are still months away, I begin to crave the bright aroma and nutritious tanginess of freshly made superfood jelly. Therefore, the end of March is my annual time to make jelly from dried berries. This year, I was thrilled to discover that my dried hawthorn berries and cranberries are on the 2024 stuffing list. These two superfood grains, especially combined, are perfect for early spring jelly making and result in one of my all-time favorite jellies. A group takes my family with joy in the summer.
