Maybe you're already using ours 10 tips for your best cookies. But it's possible that even if you're doing everything right, your cookies still won't come out of the oven perfectly round.
You may not mind a slightly misshapen cookie; after all, even in amoeba form chocolate chip cookies it's better than no cookies at all. But if you're looking for perfection, here's an easy way to make perfect round cookies every time.
Perhaps surprisingly, this is a trick to use after your cookies are baked, not before. Take your cookies out of the oven and, while still warm, pipe a circle cookie or cookie cutters OR English muffin ring on cookies; it should be about 1/4″ larger than the cookie itself. Next, move the cutter in a circular motion around the cookie so that the cookie contacts the edge of the cutter, which will smooth the sides and push it in a perfect circle Ta-da!
Don't have the right size cutter? An inverted mason jar or drinking glass works well, too (and for oversized cookies, like these massive Crushed Oatmeal-Date Cookiesfilled with candy Monster Cookies, OR Super soft super soft chocolate chip cookiesyou can also use an inverted bowl).
While this trick is mostly for aesthetics, it's also useful if you're packing the cookies in a bag or cylinder jar to give away and want a nice, neat stack.
This is just a trick to make your cookies prettier and more professional looking. For more expert advice on cookies, see our guide at How to bake cookies.
