How to use Coco Cair in gardening
Since I mix all my potting soils and seed start mixes, Cair Cair is a staple in my gardening routine. Incredible incredible and works in a variety of applications. Whether you are looking to improve soil structure, keep moisture or experiment with hydroponics, here's how you can use Cair Coco in your garden.
1. As a soil change or potting mixture
If you make your own potting mixture like me, Cair Coco is the perfect base. It provides a lightweight structure, well adopted while maintaining only the right amount of moisture. I usually mix coir coco, perlite, compote and worm caste to create a rich mixture of nutrients that work for most plants. (More details on this in my next article in Mix Potting DIY!)
2 as mulch
Coco Cair functions beautifully as a mulch alternative. It helps to maintain moisture, suppress weeds and regulate soil temperature. Unlike the traditional wood mulch, Coco Cair does not compact so quickly and decomposes more slowly, making it a low maintenance option for raised beds and garden beds.
3 for hydroponic gardening
If you are in hydroponics, Coco Cair is an excellent growing medium. It holds enough moisture for the roots of the plants to bloom while still allowing proper ventilation. Since it is neutral at pH, you will need to fill with nutrients, but its ability to keep them makes it ideal for hydroponic placements.
4 for starting seedlings
One of my favorite ways to use Coco Cair is the beginning of seedlings. Because it holds moisture well and resists mold, it creates a perfect environment for young plants. I moisturize Coco Cair and mix with a little perlite to improve drainage. The result? Strong, healthy seedlings with minimal extinguishing risk.
5. Cir Coco for hanging rows of basket
Coco Cair is a great choice for hanging the basket lines. Fibrous quality holds moisture well while still allowing the proper drainage, which helps keep the hydrated plants without making water. If you have ever had a basket hanging very quickly on the summer heat, switching to Coco Cair astrais can make a big difference. Plus, they add a natural, terrestrial look that mixes beautifully with any garden space.
